Happy Friday, friends! Here are just a few things that have made me happy lately:

  1. One King’s Lane talks about the set design of the new movie, “Home Again.” A fun read on creating the character of the home in the film, plus how to achieve a similar look.
  2. Tissue Turtleneck Tee from J.Crew. A closet staple for this season.
  3. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s Brooklyn Brownstone is for sale, and it’s gorgeous!
  4. 12 Things Only Professional Cleaners Know. Making note of these tips from the pros for keeping a clean home.
  5. Madewell Velvet Bell-Sleeve Dress. Thinking holiday with this 90’s-inspired number! Which color do you choose?
  6. Carly’s black and white outfits. Simple, yet chic, and easy to achieve.
  7. Caitlin’s Fall Decor Ideas and Home Updates. Love how she is decorating her home! Very cozy and inviting. Also, check out her post here for some major fall fashion inspiration!
  8. Skinny Pumpkin Chip Smoothie. Another recipe to try this season! Pumpkin, chocolate chips, and packed with protein.
  9. Alaina’s Living Room Before & After. I always appreciate Alaina’s instagram posts that feature pretty photos of her Greystone home. It’s interesting to see the design process from move-in to today. Talk about a stunning finish!
  10. Project 62 Wall Mirror. Eyeing this modern beauty for my bedroom. Perfect in its simplicity.

Guys, we are just a couple days away from our favorite time of year. That crisp, cool air and those hot chocolate dates are just around the corner, and I am so excited! From falling leaves to decorated stoops and porches that warm our hearts, it’s a no-brainer why we love Fall. Here are 10 things making me excited for the season:

  1. Fall foliage. The leaves change colors, fall, and collect; and the colors are beautiful. Something about gathered, autumnal leaves bring me back to simpler days of my childhood when we would rake them up and jump on in! Haha (Remember those big, orange pumpkin trash bags that you’d stuff with leaves and leave on the lawn? I still love those.)
  2. Our favorite TV shows return! YES!! Cozying up on the couch for all new episodes is the best. My favorites? The Middle, The Goldbergs, and Last Man Standing (cut from ABC – boo!, but I hear it’s coming to Netflix… Speaking of Netflix, new episodes of Fuller House and Stranger Things return, too!)
  3. More baking. Cooler days and nights mean it’s the perfect time for baking. Pecan pie is on my bucket list, and I’d like to try a new bar or cookie recipe. Do you have a good recipe? Let me know if there’s something I should try!
  4. Pumpkins! I’ve already begun decorating for fall, but I will be heading to Trader Joe’s this week to pick up a few more pumpkins, including mini white pumpkins! I’m also looking forward to making a trip to one of the local pumpkin patches and taking pictures. So fun!
  5. Watching “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” This one is an annual tradition and a seasonal favorite. Bake cookies, pop corn, get cozy, and enjoy.
  6. Fall fairs. The local schools host some great fairs. The BEST have delicious food, good music, and fun game booths and rides. There’s also a few craft fairs you can check out. My aunt and I have one that we attend every year, and we usually find things we love enough to buy.
  7. Dressing up for Halloween. Okay, so I’m not always in full costume (and I never do scary), but I do love an opportunity to get creative and play dress up.
  8. Drinking hot chocolate and eating candy corn. I mean, what is fall without hot chocolate and candy corn? These are essentials.
  9. Fall nail color. I usually prefer a pink, blush, or red but love playing with color a little more during the fall. Last week, I went with OPI Barefoot in Barcelona and am excited to try an all-new hue next.
  10. Giving thanks. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I’m back in New Orleans this year, so I’ll more than likely be hosting dinner. Gathering with the people I love most to reflect on all we’ve been blessed to have and give thanks to God is my favorite thing. Gratitude always points our hearts to what matters most.

What are you looking forward to this Fall? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wednesday!

saturday-series-oneHi, friends! I’d like to introduce you to the first post of the all-new Saturday Series. My Saturday Series will feature updates and highlights on what’s new and current from life and at home, and everything in between. I’ll get a little more personal here and hope that you’ll feel welcome to join in on the conversation, too.

Let’s talk!

Summer. Lately I can hear the neighborhood kids two doors down having fun in the pool. Their voices carry over, and it’s a nice, comforting reminder of what summer is all about. Lazy, crazy days with friends. Bike rides. Playing tag. Sleepovers. S’mores. Pool parties. Kids should get to enjoy the simple things in life as much as possible, and while they still have the freedom and time to do so. I can’t wait to have my own kids enjoying the same moments in life (and re-live all the fun with them!).

I’m hooked on an old – but new to me – series on Netflix, Hart of Dixie. I cannot get enough of the small-town fun and drama. It reminds me of everything I love about the south: tradition, close-knit communities and neighbors, charming towns and history, good food, familiar places, and… Burt Reynolds? Hart of Dixie is my latest obsession.

Bedroom Makeover. This is a goal I’ve set, and I’m determined to pay for the update without adding debt to my name. It requires me to set aside a little bit of money each month (which means I’m constantly budgeting, balancing my checkbook, and allotting funds), but I’m doing it and have felt such a great sense of pride and accomplishment for staying the course. New paint, nightstands, quality (cozy) linens, and a couple decor pieces are all part of the project, so this is a worthwhile pursuit for me.

We celebrated my brother’s birthday in June. Just a small get-together with close friends and family, but such a treat. I was so excited to give him this ukelele! My brother is a musician, and I thought this would be a fun pastime for summer and beyond. Sure enough, he loved it!

Fourth of July is just days away, and it is one of my favorite holidays. I love the pomp and flare and fireworks and patriotism of it all. I love getting dressed in my best red, white, and blue; and I look forward to savoring a few American classics – a hot dog or hamburger, Lays potato chips, sliced watermelon, and an ice-cold Coca Cola (please, and thank you!). It’s an all-around great day to celebrate the freedom we are so privileged to have in America.

On a final note are these words that a friend shared this week:

“Never is a woman so fulfilled as when she chooses to underwhelm her schedule, so she can let God overwhelm her soul.” – Lysa Terkeurst
