Items of Note

In the same way that Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start to summer, the day following July 4th celebrations seems to mark the unofficial end to summer. Yes, there may still be a few weeks of summer vacation to enjoy, but the countdown for back to school begins… school supplies and uniforms front of mind.

I’ve been in that realm of thought, and fall isn’t too far behind.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! There’s still time to soak up that summer bliss. I’ve enjoyed laid back days with afternoon showers, mini adventures here and there, and a few things that feel nostalgic and good.

  1. Jelly shoes. Like I said: nostalgic. I am loving the comeback of one of my favorite shoes as a kid. I purchased these for summer and couldn’t be happier with them. I like that they’re elevated, effortless, and incredibly comfortable.
  2. Speaking of running your race, this message from James Brown at this year’s Summer Family Bible Conference is SO good… and the message that follows with Greg Mohr.
  3. This dress that’s now on sale with an additional 20% off. A nice transition piece into fall.
  4. An easy and delicious recipe that I hadn’t made in quite some time. Paired it with a meatloaf and green peas this week, and wow – so good! To simplify, I greased a baking sheet with light olive oil and baked at 350 degrees for 40 minutes with the meatloaf, and it was perfect.
  5. Bedtime reading with Rosemary. My in-laws gifted Rosemary with this for her birthday, and we love it so much. Each bedtime blessing is accompanied by a scripture, and it’s the sweetest way to share truth while tucking her in at night.
