I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and weekend! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. As a kid, I used to love celebrating and learning about the first Thanksgiving at school. A time when the Wampanoag Indians and the Pilgrims joined together to celebrate a bountiful harvest and to give thanks to God for the many blessings in their lives. Isn’t it awesome how a shared love and heart of gratitude towards God can bring us together?
Our Thanksgiving has evolved greatly since that first Thanksgiving, but it’s still a time to fix our eyes again on the One who has blessed us with every good thing. From the preparation and planning to setting the table and gathering with family and friends, it warms my heart to get to soak up every detail and moment for relationship, conversation, laughter, and gratitude. And while those who gather around the table may change as the years go by, my hope is that we can always see the good and see God in all things. Even with full bellies and full hearts, there’s always more room for Thanksgiving.
In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
