A Note of Encouragement

Aren’t you thankful we have a God who is faithful and consistent in who He is?

Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9

Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides. Psalm 119:90

Faithfulness is something we value. It means we are steadfast and consistent in what we say and do, and who we are. A spouse who is faithful to love, comfort, and cherish us. An employer who is faithful to invest in us and our work. A friend who is faithful to be there for us. A family that faithfully loves and supports us. Faithfulness is one of the most important qualities we can have. It’s one of the character qualities of God – one of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) – and a characteristic God enables us to have through the power of the Holy Spirit who abides in us. We want to be faithful people!

And today, I just want to encourage you to be faithful!

There’s a lot out there fighting for your attention, and with social media we can easily engage in what everyone else is doing. If we compare, we can become discouraged when circumstances aren’t exactly what we’d like them to be. We can quickly overlook the blessings in front of us and forget just how far we’ve come. We can even begin to think we aren’t doing enough or measuring up. Or maybe we know we haven’t been faithful. And we just need to take a moment to get our hearts and head right.

Be faithful where God has you and with what He has given you. Be faithful to show up every day for your spouse and family. Be faithful in the work that you do. Spend time in God’s Word and in prayer. Steward your resources well. Invest your time wisely. Even as you work towards something, even in a season of waiting on God, remain faithful!

You don’t have to do it all. You don’t have to do it the same way as someone else did to be successful.

Your story is your story. It isn’t meant to look like everyone else’s. You only need to do the work that God has called you to. And we can be sure that when we are walking in obedience to His word and His call on our lives, we are right where we are supposed to be.

Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3: 3-4
