January always feels like the longest month of the year to me, but it also means I have (or at least feel like I have) more time to rest, reset, recharge, and get a jump on things.
It’s usually a slow, restful entry into the new year and then on to taking down the Christmas decor, doing a deep clean of our house, and tending to a few items that will help us get organized and breathe new life into our home.
My tending list for this month has included:
- clearing out the last remaining items from our garage
- bringing in items for sale and consignment
- making donations
- getting a frame for Rosemary’s silhouette portrait
- setting a date night out for Derek and myself
- printing out photos for Rosemary’s baby book
Beyond these few items is a decision to be intentional about the things we value and stewarding my time well to see the choices and actions I take toward those things, those seeds planted, bring forth fruit in my life.
Here’s what I’m making time for and prioritizing in 2025:
- Time with God and in His Word, and getting a deeper revelation of His love
- Dates with Derek
- Unhurried time with Rosemary; more play and learning and growth
- Writing and writing for fun
- Renewing my mind
- Praying and speaking the Word
- Protecting my peace and the peace within our home
- New adventures and travel
- Connecting with family and friends
- Reading books
- Generosity
- Purposeful work
I love the verse below for this new year:
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19
2024 was a year full of challenges and unexpected (and unwanted) surprises, but God was faithful to see us through, and we are moving ahead with great expectancy and excitement for 2025. Amen!
