July Details

July_2021Happy July, y’all! This month I’m inspired by the Red, White, and Blue. The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays, and as we celebrate America’s birthday, I’m feeling grateful for the freedoms we still enjoy today, the greater freedom we have in Jesus, and the beautiful details of an all-American summer. Longer days, grilling with friends and family, swimming, fireworks, road trips and new adventures, summer style, and good, old-fashioned fun! Sharing some of life’s latest details below and a few of my favorite red, white, and blue finds here: top, pillowpajamas, tank, earrings, hatdress, bag, caftan, beach towels.

Just finished reading: Love & Gelato. I actually planned to read this one last year but ended up taking on other reading. Let me just say, this book is a real treat, and I couldn’t put it down.  It tells the story of Lina who follows her mom’s dying wish and moves to Italy to learn more about her absent father but soon discovers so much more after being given her mom’s journal. Secret romances, art, history, hidden bakeries… Along with a new friend, the endearing Ren, Lina uncovers more than she ever knew about her mom, her father and herself. If you’re looking for a sweet, easy, and feel-good read, this is it.

Listening to: songs that feel like summer – The Beach Boys, Elvis, The Drifters, The Isley Brothers, Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, some Miles Davis… and I will never tire of this song sung by Ray Charles.

Home updates: I am so excited because this month, we are finally beginning to turn our living room into a parlor/study! This room has seemed like an afterthought because it has had no cohesive design to it since I renovated eight years ago. After Pitt and I were married, we began to think of this space more and how it could represent and be an intentional space for both of us. We are adding a wall of bookshelves, new lounge chairs, a new desk chair and rug, and a new light fixture. I will have to share my inspiration with you. I love the design process and cannot wait to see this room come together.

Watching: Manifest. We somehow got hooked on this sci-fi drama series and its cast of characters and are following along to see what unfolds. It’s a different storyline that’s fun to piece together. You can catch seasons 1-2 on Netflix and season 3 on Hulu.

Red, white, and blue dessert: Angel food cake topped with berries and cool whip! But also eyeing this recipe and this one.

Drinking: Lemonade! These Country Time lemonade packets are a favorite and achieve the perfect balance of sweet and tangy.

On the calendar: A few birthdays and my uncle’s 5oth birthday party. It’s a Jimmy Buffett theme at an awesome venue, and I’ve been planning the details alongside my aunt and cousin. It’s going to be a great time.
