Monday Morning Reflection :: No. 4

I can’t believe we are little over a week from September! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, and I have already begun to get excited just thinking about it. (You can see my last post, but things have only escalated!) Once back-to-school season rolls around, you can feel that anticipation in the air – for change, for newness, for crisp, cool air and cozy nights, for celebrating good things.

This past weekend, Derek and I had the opportunity to attend an event for Next Generation Ministries at the Cabildo in New Orleans. There was a special performance by Laura Osnes – which was beautiful(!), but we also got to hear the testimonies of two young men whose lives have been transformed by God through the ministry of NextGen, and it was powerful. I love hearing others’ stories of how God met them where they were and forever changed their lives. To know God is at work in our community, and hearing how these kids have come to know their worth in Christ and His love and grace and goodness is simply awesome. His presence in our lives is life-changing.

Saturday was a relaxing day that included a quick Target run (it wasn’t on our list, but I love this neutral, accent pillow we purchased!), and Sunday after church, we prepped for the week with a grocery trip, laundry, and baking chocolate chip cookies! This is the recipe I follow, and it’s a good one. We are in the soft batch cookie crew!

I hope your week is off to a great start, and here’s a quote from C.S. Lewis that I came across again just last week and have found to be true:

Look for Christ and you will find Him, and with Him, everything else.
